forum maintenance

Dear all , im running forum since few months and now its getting busy , plz i need to know what should i do for keeping it healthy and not to sudden falldown or crash ... i want to know what typeof maintenance and procedures should be done plz

Keep everything ( xenforo and addons) updated, regular database and file backups (my host does this twice daily automatically).

Backup also before changing anything in the system or editing any templates and before installing or updating addons

If you get lots of errors try to troubleshoot to a specific addon or theme by disabling the addons and use default theme, then enable addons one by one). Of course sometimes the error itself will point to a specific addon.

Make a private testing clone if your forum - very useful to test new configurations and addons before going live with them.

I'd also suggest having some kind of off site backups. I set a windows machine to automatically log in twice daily, to download cron generated backups, to store them safely off-site. (there are many other ways to do the same) Over the years, I have had it happen TWICE where a host lost everything. (One time was on 9/11, when the data center I was using was unfortunately crushed by a falling building. Everyone survived, thankfully)

Database backups, as well as a full backup of the files and folders.

I check for add-on and software updates for my forums EVERY morning at 5am, just in case of a new exploit or important bug fix.
