Food Fantasia

Mine grew so much it's currently residing in 15 boxes because I refuse to unpack it with NO place to put it. I inherited all my Mother's and have many from my paternal grandmother as well. Plus, I love to get new ones. My favorites are the Junior League cookbooks and the ones put together by churches. IF I collect too many more, my husband is gonna divorce me :) (Not really but he swore at them when moving those 15 boxes last summer)

I totally disagree with her about making enough for 2 though and not because it isn't nice enough to have 2 but because of drinking it. After guesstimating the Guinness that tin was downed before the heat could touch the pan.

Nigella Kitchen was on BBC2 tonight and she made the spaghetti and marmite!

I've download seasons 1-3 of Chuck on iTunes so that's pretty much all I've been watching the past couple of days.

I recently got her new book "Kitchen: Recipes From The Heart Of The Home" - it's a very chunky one compared to her usual books... I still haven't finished reading it! (Flicked through all the pretty pictures already though :cool:)

Yeah I just invested in that too. I'm thinking about giving the chicken and 40 cloves of garlic a go at the weekend.

Will give this a go, I love gingerbread :D I don't much care for Guinness, but Jeff loves it, so he can have the left overs ;)
 
My Avocado-Jalapeno Ice Cream

I make most of my ice creams with sweetened condensed milk and no egg.

So here's my basic recipe for my small ice cream maker:

1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups milk or half & half or (better for this) real sour cream.
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup lime juice
2 blended avocado's
1-2 jalapeno's, seeds removed (or not) chopped fine
any nuts you like (broken), I like pistashios or pecans (add as ice cream starts firming up or before packing if you are making hard ice cream)

Mix well, chill, and finish in ice cream maker

Enjoy

I made something similar for my moms boyfriend a year ago, but I used cashews because they've got a softer texture then most nuts, and the flavor compliments the Jalapeno and Avocado.
 
I love to cook... it's like a safer version of science experiments hahaha! I hope the dr. can figure out how to get me better so I have the energy to cook (proper food!) again!
 
Lot of "sour cream" is not sour cream. Read the ingredients, should only say cultured cream. Not gum arabic or char goond or meska or agur-agur or synthetic rubber or stuff like that.

Cuisinart electric ice cream "plant". A little pricey, but so easy. Mix up a batch, dump it in, ice cream in 40 minutes. The ice/salt kind is just harder to "get around to".

I -can- eat chicken, I just get a bunch of reactions that make life uncomfortable for a day.

And its gone already, it would have been gone in like 20 minutes, but my dad called (We're probably going there tomorrow :D), and kept me from it for a while.
 
well fine then, I will make a chicken one, and not a special Forsaken inspired one :p
Btw, I'll -try- to remember to take a picture of how the torta looks inside... But they usually don't last long enough for me to remember.

I need to start remembering to eat more then once or twice a day :p.
