XF 2.2 Follow option: best settings and practices?

Hi, How do I set the FOLLOW option?

1- When someone select FOLLOW on a members' card, will they receive email notifications AND alerts (little red bubble) when that member posts new content?

2- And would this be nullified if the member being followed set their privacy setting Receive this user's news feed to Nobody?



3- If a member sets their Receive this user news feed to Members only, what other setting could make it so that a member that follows them never actually receives an email notification?

Bump.

Disabling the Follow function is not an option for us. But I'd like to have a clear understanding of how I can set it to SEND NOTIFICATIONS to the followers when the followed posts new content.

It seems to me like there should be. That's what an end user would expect.

When you click the "Follow" button it seems that there should be a pop up with options (like when you watch a post or category)

• Follow without notifications
• Follow with notifications
• Follow with email notifications
