Fields in post: type_data and embed_metadata

What is Post entity field type_data used / intended for?

It is a future placeholder, for (potentially) attaching data to individual posts based on their thread type. It was added preemptively since the 2.2 upgrade was already altering the post table but isn't currently used in the core.

I don't think that was the envisioned usage, the poll system was already abstracted and stores its data in dedicated tables. It was more for data which may pertain to the thread (and thread type) as a whole.
