XF 1.3 Fatal Error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded

I'm getting this error while trying to update a node permission. Need to know how to clear it so that I can move forward.

Increase your php.ini max_execution_time =30 to something like 60 or 90 and see if that works.

I edited to 240 but now I'm getting this:

Fatal Error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded
8 minutes ago - library/XenForo/Model/Permission.php:1864

So, it looks like it's reading more lines, but it still says 30 secs. It's the only php.ini file on our server, though. Other ideas?

After you make a change in the php.ini file you have restart apache.

I've done that twice. No change. It's still picking up 30 for some reason. And I've confirmed the file reflects the edit.

In the path that it tells you that it is using for it's config from.
Mine reflects /etc/php5/fpm/php.ini as you can see in the image below

Success! Found the file, updated it, and the node permissions change worked! Woohoo!

Now, do I need to be concerned as to why it needed more time (when it had previously worked in the 30 sec minimum)? Or just back away slowly and be happy?
