XF 2.1 Enabling push notifications requires PHP to have the GMP extension available.

I can't enable push notification but GMP extension is installed in php and enabled. Any ideas?

In the ACP, Setup > Options > User alerts and notifications > Enable push notifications.

Then set up User Group permissions.

Go to your profile and enable.

Sad that this extension won't be enabled in shared hosting. My host said it is available only in VPS.

Sure, some do. You would have to shop around and ask them specifically if they offer it. Or go the VPS route with your current host.

Hopefully your dismay is directed towards your host. After all, it's a fairly innocuous set of functions, related to mathematical operations (which we actually use in the context of encryption, therefore security) so it's a fairly pointless thing to be stubborn over.

You will likely need to contact your host and ask them to enable it.

Right. So I at least will post something that actually helps, I dread of getting another host. That's just odd and ridiculous to ask people getting another provider.


Go to cpanel
Search for php selection
Make sure you are using up-to-date php version
And in list below select gmp
