Probably not the edit history, but giving certain users permission for a specific thread is (theoretically) doable out of the box:

Create a new usergroup and node for the thread and setup permissions accordingly.

Thanks Kirby, yes we can create small user groups to achieve this. But this will not be feasible in the long term. So adding thread user permissıons would be great in future releases.

I think the real goal of this thread is to break forum rules and evolve the forum experience with modern enhancements.

There's been lot's of conversation about making Xenforo more modern. I wanted a simpler user experience and layout. Here's my take on it.

The site is using a slightly tweaked Xenforo default style. Then we modified how the categories worked by adding a user editable sort function. Forums now open within the category and depending on forum type the threads open within the same interface. So along with a forum description we have a white space for instructions, rules or whatever.

A very common use of forum threads is to post a 'How-To' or Guide or TEK or DIY. i.e. Instructions that explain how to achieve a result by performing a sequence of steps.
For example if you have a forum about gardening, then you will have HowTo threads about 'How to make compost' or 'How to grow Tomatoes'.
As people often search the internet to find How-To instructions, various websites cater to this demand. For example:
