Quick questions:
  • Could the author or publisher consider posting the entire book as a thread series for direct chapter-by-chapter reading within the forum?
  • Would it be possible to add a download button to the interface, integrated with XFRM? Specifically, this button could be positioned below the current "Want to Read" button and linked to the uploaded resource or an option to upload the file.

Is there a way to fetch books details using amazon url or goodreads url?
Not currently. Book details are entered manually at the moment.

It's a useful idea for a future update, though it would need to be implemented carefully since reliable fetching depends on what external services officially support and permit.

You're welcome to post it in the dedicated suggestions area so we can properly track it.

Just a heads up with this..
  • Goodreads no longer issue new developer keys, and has long since deprecated its API. There are unofficial scrapers available, but aren't recommended.
  • Amazon requires you to make X amount of referred sales per month in order to continue use of its API. They can essentially block your access as soon as you fail to meet this quota.
  • Open Library has very low rate limits, and almost entirely dissuades usage of its API for this kind of add-on.
I've had a bit of a play with Google Books API integration (and a custom built thread starter) - the fetchable information is limited, and is currently different to what is visually displayed on Google's own book pages (eg. it doesn't fetch any "about the author" details) - but it does work.
