[DBTech] DragonByte Social Groups

[DBTech] DragonByte Social Groups [Paid] 2.5.0

No permission to buy (€19.95)
Sorry @DragonByte Tech -- I have been out of the loop for so long, but hope this finds you well! I have just started updating our XF 2.2 installation to XF 2.3. We're at 3.3.0 so far and getting caught up.

I've been wanting to switch from Nobito to this, for a long time, I just wondered if I could ask a few questions .. because I don't think my mind can handle a 11 page deep discussions search! 😲 Sorry for being a pain.

1) Are the forums created for this group independent of our regular forums? With other 'group' add-ons, I've noticed the group forums just appear in your regular forum list which is a bit of a turn off.

2) I love the integration with Naz's calendar, for private calendars, that is awesome! With your use of XFMG are group created albums separate and private from those a user would see when browsing the main XFMG?

3) Is this still open to (or in) on-going development? Or is it a done deal?

Thanks much!

Social Groups are entirely separate and do not use Forums/Threads/Posts for data storage. You can optionally add a node that shows a list of the current user's joined social groups.

Nobody can see albums (or their contents) if they don't have permission to view the group's content.

All of my addons for XF 2.3 are in active development, though for this one in particular I might be limited in what changes I can make as it is a commissioned addon :)

Some features that I'd love to see implemented:

These would supercharge social groups and generate income from them.

DragonByte Tech updated [DBTech] DragonByte Social Groups with a new update entry:

2.4.0

Update highlights

This version makes major improvements to the group member functionality, as well as improves the thread import feature.

For the group member list, a whole host of new data is now tracked. "Last activity" tracks the last time a member viewed the group, and the number and last date of messages, albums, media items, and calendar events are also tracked. For upgrades, this data is rebuilt in the background after upgrade and may take a long time to...

I have nearly 300 social groups imported from Nobita groups for xf1 and am just starting to use the software. I have some questions:
  1. There do not seem to be group categories? Browsing 300 social groups is not user friendly.
I see there is a tag list, but this does not work well for the following reasons:
    • tags do not have hierarchy. i.e. no subcategories.
    • tag pages mix with a mass of other content
    • tag pages have a maximum of 10 pages. The groups will not even get listed if it is a popular tag.
    • You can not filter tags.
    • Tags can not have special characters like &
    • Tags widget does not only display groups, but also group content. So this widget quickly fills up with tags that are not group categorization.
This makes groups really hard to find.
  2. What does this entail: Group watch notification limit. How is it limited?
  3. For what events/actions will group members receive an email notification?
  4. What are the CLI commands for rebuilds?
  5. I have a significant number of invited members in groups. How can we manage these? Can we cancel or resend invitations?
Previous software had issues with email notifications and invited members may not have received invites.
This seems a bug:
Groups I own have a button to 'Join group'.

Feature request:
Please add hierarchical categories and subcategories.

There do not seem to be group categories?
Not at this time, no.

What does this entail: Group watch notification limit. How is it limited?
This controls whether these options are available to group owners:

For what events/actions will group members receive an email notification?
See above :)

What are the CLI commands for rebuilds?
There's no CLI rebuild commands at this time.

dbtech-social/<groupId>/invited/ :)

Bugs are best reported @ DBTech as I'm currently busy with the Mail update so I don't have time to look into this at the moment.

Thanks for the swift response.

I think you are missing out on a lot of sales by not having categories or some useful form of categorization.
I think that your groups addon is superior to the others. But this is deal breaker for various people.

See above :)
Do group members also get email for invites, group takeover requests, quotes and mentions? Anything else?

dbtech-social/<groupId>/invited/ :)
I see no management tools there. Only a list of who was invited when. Should it be possible to remind an invited member? Or delete an invitation? We used to have this functionality.
