CTA Featured Threads & Portal

CTA Featured Threads & Portal [Paid] 2.17.0

No permission to buy (£40.00)
Definitely.

The biggest improvement is for polls - the participation/votes increases massively when polls are featured.

Hi Brogan,

I think I might have messed it up somewhere but cannot workout what I did. I have a test board and configured it the same as my live board for a 156 x 106 image and 240 characters on the page featured threads on a portal but there is a gap between the text and footer. It is not there on my live board so I think I might have added a gap on something in Style Properties.

I checked the options to ensure the minimum characters/picture size were right and unfeatured the old ones and redid it without much luck.

Cheers

It's difficult to say from a screenshot but it will be one of the style property heights.

You can check which components have been customised in the style and work through them.

Brogan updated CTA Featured Threads & Portal with a new update entry:

2.16.0 Small but perfectly formed

This is a relatively small update (OK, I admit it, it's tiny) which fixes a few bugs but also adds a "New Posts" block to the page.

Once you have upgraded, make sure you set up the new options and style properties as required.

Just as I downloaded the previous version and configured it all and closed WinSCP!!! :P

Awesome release for the new posts block!

@Brogan, I turned off all my threads to post in the sidebar and I get this error now..

Code:
ErrorException: Undefined index: sidebarNewPosts - library/CTA/FeaturedThreads/ControllerPublic/Thread.php:76
Generated By: Admin, 3 minutes ago

What do you mean by "turned off all my threads to post in the sidebar"?

As the update states:
There will be errors generated and pages may fail to load after uploading the files and prior to importing the .xml file.
Once the .xml file is imported, the errors should cease.
If they don't, go to Options -> CTA Featured Threads and just save (there is no need to change anything).
Any such errors can then be safely deleted from the log.

I am unable to reproduce the error.

Unchecking that for individual forums stops the threads being displayed in the sidebar block.
No errors are thrown however.
The code I am using is an exact replica of the code XF uses for the new posts sidebar block on the forum index and in my testing both blocks behave exactly the same.

Can you provide precise steps in order to faithfully reproduce the error each time?
Also, an ACP log in would be useful so I can check.

I'm having a slight issue. I've updated the add-on and rebuilt caches but a thread I set to featured indefinitely keeps expiring.
@Brogan, I'm having a similar problem to Neal from last year. I have one forum set to auto-feature every thread, but I go into the forum and most of the threads have "expired". I'm on 2.16.0.

Any troubleshooting tips?

I have found that if I go to the settings and don't change anything and click save, my slider vanishes until I feature something again to the slider.

I can't reproduce that on multiple installations.

I would need ACP, FTP and phpMyAdmin access to investigate.

That issue I had with the slider icons... @Optic pointed out I forgot to upload the image folder to my custom style!

Doh! All solved now lol
