CTA Featured Threads & Portal

CTA Featured Threads & Portal [Paid] 2.17.0

No permission to buy (£40.00)
So, back to work then.

There is one feature left to write for 2.11 (upload image from URL) and then it will be ready for public testing.
The full list of new features is here: http://support.cliptheapex.com/threads/whats-new-in-2-11.15/

You can though test all the other new front end stuff on the support site now.

Unfortunately, I have had to swap my IDE for a paint brush and roller for the next week or so, so it's going to take a little longer than usual.

Requesting to update your FAQ for those who would like to use it simply for portal, ("Any new thread from selected node will show" kinda thing). Also regular router trick for "home" button.

I was so close to scrapping this add-on.
Just an hour ago I had a message drafted stating that development would cease.

It is only due to the advice and support (and constant nagging) of a trusted friend that I have decided not to. So thanks go to @Chris D, as always.

As you may know by now, a <redacted> individual, who breached the terms of the license, rated this add-on 1 star, but only after I had refunded them in full, eight months after purchasing.

This person handed over their account on the support site and the add-on files to a third party, without my knowledge or consent.
Naturally I was not impressed with that but the person in question didn’t see an issue with it and instead blamed me for not understanding.
Over the next 24 hour period this person spammed me on two different sites and by email with about 40 messages.
Eventually I refunded them in full and no sooner had I done so, they posted a 1 star rating for “poor support”.
Way to go you <redacted>.
If I was to post what I really thought of this person, I would lose my job, so I’ll leave it there.

Naturally I reported this rating as invalid as not only was my support not poor, it was simply a revenge rating.
The fact that this person waited until receiving a refund, to which they were not even entitled to, before rating 1 star speaks volumes.

Disappointingly, a couple of staff members decided the rating and “review” is valid and should therefore not be deleted.
I have often disagreed with how what I deem to be invalid reviews are handled, so this is not a case of double standards when it comes to my own resource.
I myself have deleted 1 star ratings for less than this.
Unfortunately there is no policy in place when it comes to moderating reviews, so it’s purely down to opinion. Not mine, obviously.

I subsequently removed the resource in protest at this ********, ****ing nonsense decision and had no intention of continuing with development.
I have been known to be impulsive at times… Principled, but impulsive.

I defy anyone to justify a 1 star rating for this add-on though.
Prior to this it was the highest rated add-on, for both paid and free resources.
Granted, maybe not all of the five star ratings are deserved, but it is definitely worth more than one.

So, because of all that, I was all set to wrap things up and call it a day.
In some respects I was quite relieved as this add-on has been in continuous development for over 8 months, with every spare moment spent on it, and I was looking forward to some time off and wanted to see if my Xbox still worked.
Then my good friend Chris annoyingly just made a lot of common sense and I couldn’t help but agree with it. *******!
Primarily he made me accept that I was letting down all of my customers due to the actions of one irrelevant individual.

So although it goes against every fibre of my being in restoring this resource, I am doing so for existing and future customers.
If I was to leave it deleted I know that development would cease as I would have no incentive to continue.

However, I will suck it up and move on.

I am glad too see that you changed your mind about scrapping the mod. This is one of the most powerful and the most featured rich mod of its kind. And your support from what I have seen here is top notch. Keep up the great work.

I truly believe there has been a massive failure in how ratings and reviews are moderated on this site since they were implemented.
I have often complained about it. The inconsistency above all else is just dreadful.

I could not agree more with this. I have noticed a lot of unfair and unjust reviews, like @Shelley 's example or a few to my own mods. When the users say that the mods work fine but just because they are not compatible with x or y other mod they give it a one star review. When the fact is that the mods are made to be compatible only with the vanilla form of the software and not other third party mods/styles.

I was going to say that profile posts are available now...and then I remembered I'm running 2.11 Alpha on my site, which obviously hasn't been released yet <facepalm>

It's just a Twitter widget I set up, with a custom template and a bit of CSS.

I actually packaged it up into an add-on.
Hey,

Thinking of going with this instead of using XenZine - is the said Twitter feed available with this product or standalone resource?

Nice site btw Brogan

Shameful thing is I just brought XenZine too :( our switchover from vBulletin is tomorrow too, so a bit late to change everything now - again....

But looking through this and the dedication/support you provide I'm kicking myself!

Pay day is only a week away, so never say never :D

The share links in your screenshots in the opening post - are they all included with this product, or would this be using the default share function in XF?

We broadcast our articles (which we would use this for to replace vB's Blog/Article system) to all social networks we have, we get alot of hits/visits from the social site of things too, so this is quite important for us :)

Would it be possible to see the entire admin panel of the add-on - to see what's possible (via PM if you want? or are they all in the opening shots?)

Alot of developers say yes to this... But are you going to continue this product for the foreseeable? (It's looking awesome so far, you have some great sites on it too)

Sorry for the 10 million questions :) - you know me!

Yes, the share links are standard.
You can add your own custom ones using the dedicated template.

All of the options, permissions and SPs are in the screenshots.
However, if you want to test the front end for yourself you can do so here: http://support.cliptheapex.com/

The manual featuring test forum is here: http://support.cliptheapex.com/forums/manual-featuring/

Version 2.11 is currently being developed.
The current feature list is here: http://support.cliptheapex.com/threads/whats-new-in-2-11.15/

After that I need to decide what to add for the next release.

Cheers Brogan :)

Sale coming your way on 28th :p

Those links are just to tease me with your site right? *jealous* hehehe

Looks straight forward, thanks man.
