Yes, the threads will have to each be unfeatured manually. The easiest way to do this is set the max featured threads in the options to 1 then unfeature the remaining thread (then reset your settings back to what you want).
I'd suggest that initially you don't set it as your home page, just access this via the Featured Threads link (which is the portal page, just not set as the home page). If you enable the permissions for you only and remove them for all other user groups, then only you will see the link and the page, so you can set things up as you like them, then alter permissions and set it as the home page when you are ready to do so.

Yes, I'm using a custom style, and the [bd] Widget Framework addon. The titles do not appear in the default style either.
IMHO (but I'm not using CTA FT & P) if you can't feature less Thread from many different forum nodes you need more caching or more server power
Most likely you can change that in Style Properties.
That's due to your custom style - it is likely outdated, so you will need to contact the author for an updated version, or manually revert and edit the templates.

Considering how highly-rated this add-on is I'm considering changing from Jaxel's portal system. However, I'd like to see some good examples of it in use.
