Is it true according following review from @RallyFan, that new different conversations doesn't send out an email? that would be bad for my requirement to buy this addon.

This add-on ensures the conversation only sends an email unless you've visited it recently. It is frankly not very useful, and I've been considering open-sourcing it and marking it as unmaintained.

The change of "conversation" to Direct Message means that the template modification used by this add-on now has a missing phrase. The replacement text still uses "receive_email_when_new_conversation_message_is_received" but the phrase is now called "receive_email_when_new_direct_message_is_received" so you get the raw phrase name:

I was prepping a new build of this to address some minor issues, I'll add that to the todo list
