Hey guys,

I am almost finished setting up my forum and I am creating test users.

When I register a new user, I am getting an error message in my admin inbox:

Our system has detected that this
message is 550-5.7.1 likely unsolicited mail. To reduce the amount of spam
sent to Gmail, 550-5.7.1 this message has been blocked. Please visit
550-5.7.1 https://support.google.com/mail/?p=UnsolicitedMessageError 550
5.7.1 for more information. y14si5330942ioa.25 - gsmtp (in reply to end of
DATA command)

Have you ever seen this?

Please let me know as I don't want to receive this every time someone registers for my forum.

Thanks and talk soon,

Steve

1. Use SMTP to send emails rather than PHP sendmail (I know Xenforo recommends differently but Sendmail in my experience is far more likely to trigger spam filters).

2. Make certain that both DKIM and SPF are enabled and correctly configured on your server. This is easy to do in recent versions of cPanel using the Email Deliverability function.

3. Check your site for other email issues here: https://mxtoolbox.com/domain/

4. Contact Google at https://support.google.com/mail/contact/msgdelivery and tell them why your emails are not spam.

That's rather old and for XF 1 but the information may still be relevant.

Thank you for the answer. The problem continues even though we have done all of them.

Thanks so much....I just disabled email confirmation for now.

I always suggest using the Default Email transport method:

199706

To ensure emails are sent to your members, you will want to notify the most popular email providers using their bulk email notification. This will whitelist your forum domain to ensure emails go to your members.
