Changing From Subdirectory to Root

Not sure if I should ask this here or on the Installing section so please feel free to move it if you need to. This might be general knowledge for most however I don't know how to do this and would like to get my site working properly without the wordpress that is now in the root. I want to use the portal for XPortal however if I remember my question before to them I need to have my Xenforo script (software) in the root. So my question is simply this.

Do I take out all the files in the root that are wordpress which I am going to attempt to put into a subdirectory /blog and than take the files out of the /community that are Xenforo and put them into the root. Once I do that which is simple enough what about the databases? How to I get them to work? I found this for moving wordpress to a subdirectory would I do the same thing for the Xenforo database as described by once moving the files to the root, go into adminmyphp export the database than alter the database where the http://xxxxx.com/community and make everything go to http://xxxx.com/ than drop everything out of the database and upload the edited database?

I'm lost sorry....

Referring kinda to this post here as well....

How can I move my installation to a different directory?

Update the Board URL in the ACP -> Options -> Basic Board Information and move the files to the new directory. You may need to restart the server for the change to take effect.

You only need to move the files. You don't need to do anything with the database. The library/config.php file will still point to the same database.

Be sure to update the board URL in the options:

Admin CP -> Home -> Options -> Basic Board Information -> Board URL
