XF 2.2 Can I simply drag my forum from subdirectory to primary?

I have my forum in a subdirectory on my domain (www.example.com/forum) but I want it at the main domain (www.example.com). Using FileZilla, can I simply drag all the files in that subdirectory to the root or will that mess up the forum somehow?

Yes, move the files on the server, update the Board URL in the ACP.

You may also want to implement redirection.
