XF 1.2 Change install to root

I have had a new install done but XF was placed in a subdirectory.
How do I change it so it's a root install?

Alternatively would it work to change the directory name \forums
then change the path in options?

How can I move my installation to a different directory?
Update the Board URL in the ACP -> Options -> Basic Board Information and move the files to the new directory. You may need to restart the server for the change to take effect.
Note that redirection will be required to ensure any existing links continue to work.

So what if I change the name of the subdirectory to replace "forums" PLUS changing the filepath in Options?
Would that be enough to make the subdirectory a less generic name?

Changing the directory (folder) name on the server is the same as moving the files to a new directory (folder).
