XF 2.2 Moving forums down to root concerns?

My current setup:

https://mysite.com/forums/

https://mysite.com/forums/example/randomforum.1/

https://mysite.com/forums/threads/randomthread.644/

I would like to move my forums from the forums directory down to the root directory https://mysite.com like so:

https://mysite.com

https://mysite.com/forums/randomforum.1/

https://mysite.com/threads/randomthread.644/

I am currently replacing my forum name "forums" with "example" as below.

Under "Route filters" in the ACP I have had the following from day one on XenForo.
Find Replace
forums/ example/

My question is, will I have any issues with moving my forum down to the root level as it has technically been at https://mysite.com/forums/forums/randomforum.1/ for a long time even though it has been redirected to https://mysite.com/forums/example/randomforum.1/ ?

I had to type all this out so I wouldn't confuse myself, thanks for any input.

The route filter itself won't be problematic, you can set it to "incoming URL conversion only" to allow https://mysite.com/example/randomforum.1/ to redirect to the normal URL if you want.

If you set up web server redirects from the old directory, you'll likely have to specify forums/example/ and forums/threads/ etc. rather than a blanket forums/ redirect so that the actual forum routes can still be served by XF.

Thanks, the part that is concerning me is running into issues with XF properly serving the forum routes.
