XF 1.1 Can't change avatars

I recently moved servers and it seems I broke the function to change avatars. I can however upload image attachments just fine.

I checked the folder permission and it's set to 777 and no server errors were created so I'm slightly stuck on where to go from here.

When I upload an avatar it looks like it uploads but does not replace anything and instead my members are forced to use gravatar if they want an avatar change.

What might I be missing in this picture?

It definitely sounds like a permissions issue.
Have you also chmod the sub-directories?

You need to do it recursively by using chmod -r.

edit: looks like it was some subfolder of a subfolder.... got it to work now. Thanks brogan


I checked data & internal_data and both are 777 as well as subfolders.

When i upload a new avatar it says "Upload completed successfully" but then does nothing and current avatar remains the same.

Is there anything else I might have done?
