XF 1.2 Cannot delete Users Awaiting Approval

I recently took over www.adminforums.org, and I've been on a clean up mission as there were a TONNE of spam users and various other stuff.

I deleted over 1,500 users in the 'Awaiting Approval' list, but I've got it down to 8, and even though I have selected to "Reject and delete" the user, they do not disappear from the list.

When I try to go in and delete them now, it just says "Error. The requested user could not be found."

Any ideas folks?

That would imply that the users have incomplete records -- something that can only happen if the DB is written to directly or there was corruption in the DB.

They're probably missing records that correspond to their user IDs in the xf_user_profile, xf_user_privacy, or xf_user_option tables -- inserting rows for them into there (if necessary) would sort it. If you're not comfortable doing that, please submit a ticket with phpMyAdmin access.
