There will be die-hard vB fans til the end of time - or the end of vB, which I'm thinking will come sooner.
They are simply stuck in the "old school" software mentality, rather than wanting to move forward.

And for good reason. I'm liking where XF is going, but it's not there yet. vBulletin can be used out of the box. XF is still missing a lot of what I need as an admin to consider using it on a real community. It is a bare-bones forum at this point.

I am pretty sure he or anyone else in position to, is not checking the bottom of their shoes to see what they are stepping on their way to bed....in fact I would be willing to bet they justify their actions by looking at their bank accounts.

Still in Mauritius with spotty weather. This hot weather is actually killing me now. 32 degrees C is not Summer, on the coast, it's Winter. Summer is predicted to be 45+ C. Oh boy.

Updated the first post with documentation. Dates are as follows:


COUNSEL ARE NOTIFIED that this action is hereby placed on calendar for FINAL PRE-TRIAL CONFERENCE on OCTOBER 24, 2011 AT 11:00 A.M.
Memoranda of Contentions of Fact and Law, Exhibit Lists and Witness Lists shall be filed and served on or before OCTOBER 2, 2011, which date will also serve as the discovery cut-off date in this action. There is no Motion Cut-Off Date set.
PRE-TRIAL CONFERENCE ORDER shall be lodged with this Court on or before OCTOBER 17, 2011.
JURY TRIAL DATE is set as NOVEMBER 29, 2011 AT 9:00 A.M.

As a board member I wouldn't be too pleased realizing how they re-purpose the invested money, but hey. ... as long as those stock options can be traded just before the prices drop and sell when they rise again, right?

29th of November, that's better than next year ..

Hey IB: you're still allowed to just call it quits, cut your loss and focus on producing great products.

I find it a bit unfair to say upper management of all large corporations lack dignity. I think there are some out there who do have dignity, like Southwest Airlines.

At the same time, I think Internet Brands lacks both dignity and honor :p

I agree that there are many big companies that take pride and dignity seriously...but for every single instance of those there is 9 that don't. When a company isn't directly correlated to a person, blame doesn't directly fall on them....allowing them to get away with crap that a person who stands behind their products or services can't or won't.

As a generalization I consider it fair but on the same hand I consider your assessment equally true. Because of the craptastic companies who make crap decision, good companies say like your example SW Airline must go an extra mile to separate themselves from the slew of irresponsible companies so they are not grouped together with them in the peoples eyes. And also like you said I'm sure both of us agree that IB is not one of those companies...I'm sure they prefer shortcuts.

I guess it's ironic that the non business types could see it, but not IB. :P
 
But their concerns are valid.

MySpace was a hot commodity at one point, and then, all this PR nightmare caused MySpace to flail under the radar.

I mean, Facebook keeps growing at a fast pace that it's not even easy to catch up to them. Unless you're google.

iB have inadvertently caused their own downfall, their own grave for vBulletin.
