bounced emails

How do you guys deal with bounced emails attached to user id's?

I used to have them divert into an account for checking, but when your userbase gets beyond a certain size this isn't really practical, so I ended up blackholing them.

It doesn't seem to be an issue we have with active members. Pretty much all of the bounced emails I've seen are for accounts that are no longer used by people on our site.
