beta 3, beta 4, RC1?

Can't wait to see version 3 up and running, i hope nothing bad comes out of this stupid lawsuit.

If xenForo has taken code fair enough - code can be re-written though.

Then again a lot of it will probably look similar since they worked on VB and it incorporates their own style of coding, naming etc.

Good thinking there Kier. Its the problem with coding standards I guess. You implemented them in vB, times change, new standards come along but its hard to change them when such a lot of code has been written.

Therefore, cleansheet & all that makes it a good opportunity to use the latest methods and standards.

Also makes two sets of code pretty obviously different, should anyone want to compare them for whatever reason. ;)

In all honesty, for me, it doesn't matter when the stable version is released!! During the beta 1 and now the beta 2, there aren't all that many bugs that I have found so far!! I may not be using everything, but I am using everything that a working forum needs to run, and as yet no bugs what so ever, which can only be a great start!!

When the stable version is ready, I'm sure it's in all of XenForo Ltd.'s interest to get it out, but not in their interest to rush it and then get loads of bug reports, which I'm sure they won't do!! The lawsuit, in my eyes, is bang out of order and IB just want to get as much money out of XF as they can, and also shut them down so they can continue to squeezing every penny out of their current customers. It ain't gonna happen though, cos we all know how unique XF is, simple things!!

Most of the bugs are going away quickly. What I would hope to see is features being slowly added so XF can do much more.

Well adding more features during a beta phase defeats the point of the beta phase, which is to come up with a stable product.
Every time a new feature is added there is the potential for more bugs to be introduced, thereby increasing the duration of the beta phase.

There is no doubt that more features will be added but the current goal is to reach a stable product which can be released as 1.0.

My first xF install was Beta 2, so im interested in the seeing the upgrade script in action.. Looking forward to next week.. I have noticed a few bugs but havent bothered the check or log them.. if they are still in Beta 3 ill make note of them next time around.

It would be useful to post them now as the more advance notice there is, the less time it will take to get to a stable release.
Ideally there should be fewer bugs with each Beta release so the dev's will want to know about bugs as they're found, not one release later.

Any bugs you come across, please report them if they have not been already. The faster the Dev's can action them, the closer XenForo will become to being stable, :)

What's really cool is that people tend to forget or don't realize we are only still in beta! The product is so good right now, it feels like a 1.0 version.

Very true!! At the moment I'd say it can easily be seen as a 1.0 stable product, so when it finally gets there who knows what it's going to be like bug wise!!

I guess I would love to know the time line you are AIMING for. My clients have a few forums that are pretty generic that we would love to try and import but are wary due to the beta label. If we had an idea of the estimated date of at least an RC it would help us plan better for future maintenance cycles.
