I think that should work. However, it's unclear whether you can send 7k in a day without paying. The email providers have monthly rate limit, day rate and hour rate too.

Yes you can with mandrill. Although, as soon as you use all 12,000, you'll need to pay.

Correct. As soon as the month passes, you roll back to zero again

They also work on your reputation. I only have 12,000 mails per month, but I could burn through 8,500 of them in one hour if I wanted to

Why do you choose this over your host email? I am doing it for a newsletter. I will use it to send out letter than turn it off until the following month.

Also this is good for overcoming host limits. Your host (most host) allow for only X per hour. This allows you to send a lot more than your average hosting provider.

Go to Email Options and put an address into "Default Email Address" field. Make sure to use an address with your domain name (e.g. community@www.domain.com). According to your screenshot, you used www.domain.com, I suggest you switching to use domain.com only though.

The domain part must match the value you put into "Domain" field earlier. In other words, you should put "mysite.com" in the "Domain" field.
