Barefooting

I do confess to wearing the barest minimum of footwear when shopping, it can be rather hazardous around here, I think it is seen as a combative contact sport in this neighbourhood :o

Is there an award yet for starting a thread that makes it to 1000 replies? That would be awesome. ( I was trying to think of a Kevin Bacon/Footloose joke but the foundation of my joke lost it's footing...AHHA and just like that I am back folks)

I was thinking about it for a long time but didn't want to make an official suggestion ( if I did I forgot ) as I know we are nearing the supported release and didn't want to add to the load... be it coding or thinking, as the team has had a lot to do...but if the moderation system can be broken down into per thread options on a user basis that would be so clutch as I don't know of any other software for a community that can do that and has half of XF's capabilities so beyond being a selling point...it truly would be an expansive feature. That could help forum owners manage their site. What thread starter want's "their" thread looking messy...it makes perfect sense for a self maintaining site where the admins can concentrate on other matters instead of having to micromanage everything themselves.

edit: I should add before I forget...in this thing in m head topic moderators cannot delete Thread starting posts even if it is theirs...

And I never disbelieved you, my issue is that this rather backward and unprogressive doctrine is wrongly believed by many to be in some way a legal requirement, or 'by order of the state health department' etc., when in the vast majority of cases it is neither, and is merely the whim of intolerant managers of the establishment.

No no, I didn't think that you dusbelieved me. I was mis-informed by someone who didn't know any better, it would seem.

SO, I came right out and asked my local store manager a few weeks ago about the policy. It seems that this is a requirement of their insurance company - the liability insurance, to be exact.

People have a "sue for anything" mentality in the states anymore. If someone slips and falls, or steps on something and scratches a foot, or even just breaks a toenail, there is a suit forthcoming. Thus the policy.
 
I think its due to legal recourse , if you go in to a store in your bare feet and step on broken glass and get injured then in comes a law suit. Everyone sues and counter sues for everything which is why being a Lawyer is only second to being a Doctor when it comes to making $$$.

Its also out of respect , shop owners want to create a comfortable/respectful environment to its customers and if some hoodlums come in with no shoes or shirts the upright paying customer will find another place to go.

99% of the people that would go in to a store with no shoes is because they live below the poverty line and cant afford them, never have i seen someone doing it for fun nor can i see why, maybe our feets are just sensitive :D i dont do anything out side the house with out shoes. Amazingly my wife dont even cook with out tennis shoes on because the tile floor hurts her feet
 
Now you could not catch me in the house, at any time, with shoes on. No way. When I am home, the shoes are out of sight. Damnable confining things, they are.

But outside the house, yes I wear them, mostly because I have sensitive (and yes, ugly) feet. Walking on anything other than carpet or a bare floor, just hurts my feet.
I do like to drive barefoot. :)

Barefooting is common at my country :P people often walk without shoes or slippers outside their house too inside the house No slippers/shoes are allowed .

Religious places are all about barefoot they will have to take them off before entering those areas.
