Are tags still useful SEO in 2018?

Has anyone done any research on the values of thread tags and tags in general as far as Google SEO, search discovery is concerned?

I too have this question.

Somewhere i saw its written as, tags are useful for forum search only and does not make any keyword effect.

Same here. I heard that google does not consider keywords. But few search engines do. Still wondering what is the perfect answer.

I suppose it could be argued that tags could have a negative effect on SEO, the reason being if you don't use tags the thread title would be possibly be written using more words to describe the thread and that is very beneficial to SEO.

If they are used correctly then very valuable. Anytime you can organize good content in a useful way Google will reward you.
