Cannot reproduce alerts on follow

It seems that alerts are triggered (and a new alert item is shown) when a user follows a thread. But it seems like there is a new response (USERX replied to your thread)... but they only followed the thread. This is confusing

I'm afraid I don't understand what you're reporting. Do you mean something relating to watching a thread? Can you give exact reproduction steps and the exact text you're seeing?

hmm... yes it was a bit confusing the way I described it

1) Sonja clicked on follow this thread
2) Jodie logged in the system, and saw a Alert (right top) with the message that Sonja reacted to the thread
3) Jodie clicked the alert (sonja reacted to thread) and the thread opened but no reaction (as Sonja did not post, but just followed)

If you're sure those are the exact steps, then I could only guess that there's an add-on at play because we definitely don't send alerts like that out of the box.
