XF 1.1 Addons at upgrade time

I see a few really nice addons that I'd like to use. Before I get carried away with them, what happens at upgrade time? Does the core upgrade simply ignore all addons?

I would do all the addons using the TMS and from the reading I've done, it looks like this method by itself should avoid any conflicts.

Where is the best place to post questions about the TMS?

I suppose if the add-on needs fixed after an upgrade it wouldn't matter if the edits (if any) were in the TMS. I haven't looked at the TMS yet so I can't really give you a concrete answer.
