[AddonFlare] Paid Registrations [Deleted]

I just want to say what a crying shame is that this plugin has been abandoned.

Even more so that there is no viable replacement for it.

Capturing membership upgrades at point of registration is absolutely crucial. I went from maybe $100-$200 a month in paid membership upgrades to $2000-$2500 a month with this add-on. It worked well for years, and then just like that it stopped being supported and no longer works with XF 2.3.

Sorry, just venting here but I will deeply miss this add-on, it did everything I wanted it to and really helped offset costs associated with running the forum.

Hopefully something else comes along to replace it.

I hear something indeed might be in the works.

My concern about AddOnFlare is that they are evidently still running their site, still taking money for pro licenses, and providing nothing but an out-of-date version incompatible with XF 2.3. Support doesn't exist. Something should be done about it.

It makes me wonder what happened to the guy. Has anyone been able to contact him or is it possible he had an unfortunate accident?

Attempts to contact someone on the site don't bring responses. One would think if something happened to him, why is the site still running? Someone has to pay the bills for its hosting package.

Perhaps, unless hosting has been paid up in advance for years.

Something is up, that’s for sure.

Surely if you had 2500 a month, you could easily get someone to make you a new add on.

IDK, you'd be amazed. I've hired some XF developers over the years and the majority have charged through the nose, delivered an add on that doesn't fulfil the brief, then ghosted. Even the ones that did deliver won't then maintain.

It is generally safest to rely on developers who have written an add on because they wanted to and see a market for it, because then the odds are vastly improved that they'll do bugfixes and maintenance updates.

Anyway, I'm chiming in on this:

Strongly agree (in case a developer is looking at this thread and wondering if there's a market for a Paid Registrations addon lol). @ThemeHouse would you be interested in adding this functionality to your repertoire? 😘
