[AddonFlare] Paid Registrations [Deleted]

Can't say I blame you.

That's just on a smaller forum too. Imagine if you had millions of members?

The ability to capture a membership upgrade at the point of registration is absolutely crucial and I've seen time-and-time again that it really does work.
Call me curious.

How much members did you have at the time of the installation of said add on?
How much members did you averagely gain per day at the time?
What kind of incentives did you offer at what price?

IDK, you'd be amazed. I've hired some XF developers over the years and the majority have charged through the nose, delivered an add on that doesn't fulfil the brief, then ghosted. Even the ones that did deliver won't then maintain.

It is generally safest to rely on developers who have written an add on because they wanted to and see a market for it, because then the odds are vastly improved that they'll do bugfixes and maintenance updates.

Anyway, I'm chiming in on this:

Strongly agree (in case a developer is looking at this thread and wondering if there's a market for a Paid Registrations addon lol). @ThemeHouse would you be interested in adding this functionality to your repertoire? 😘

Maintaining an add-on is almost always separate from developing an add-on, either as an additional cost agreed upon for a period of maintenance when you first hire the developer, or based on their hourly rate. The only time you are unlikely to pay for maintenance is if it's a major bug or exploit and caused by the developer's oversight.

Probably about 20,000 members.

Membership stayed consistent. About 10-20 new members a day. I'd say 2/3 of them were free members and the other 1/3 were paid supporting members.

I offer access to hidden forums, the ability to edit posts indefinitely (no time limit), the ability to have a signature, no ads, and a variety of other things.

It's $40 and it's a one time fee.

Corect! And the amount of developers who have simply ghosted me after I've paid an agreed-upon maintenance fee, or not responded to an RFQ to do some maintenance on their own add-on, is startling.

IDK why this is so hard for everyone in this thread to understand lmao. A lot of developers are just straight-up bad at client communication, or doing work they don't see the logic for, or just bothering with individual clients if they have bigger projects on the go.

I recommend @vbresults (y)

Had a lot of custom work done by him and every time delivered on time and better than my expectations. He should be able to get this add-on updated eazy peazy.

Updating another developer's add-on, whether or not they've abandoned it, is generally frowned upon and most developers are unwilling to do so without express permission (especially for paid add-ons).

There is already another add-on being worked on to replace this one, and it should be released soon with close to the same functionality, with more additional add-ons coming to add further functionality.

Recognising this is an abandoned/unmaintained add-on and the author hasn't been active here for over 18 mths, has anyone fixed the issue where anonymous gifting of upgrades sends an email to the recipient and showing them who he giftor/purchaser is? Saving myself having a look at the code and perhaps identifying and resolving it myself.

At least for now I've gone to /admin.php?add-ons/AddonFlare-PaidRegistrations/options and unticked the 'Gift Upgrades: Email' option, which should at least hopefully resolve/bandaid the issue.

Just purchased full version for three months, but all full version features like gift subscription are greyed out from checking off to include and say (Available upgrading to full version). I can't get any support on the site as my e-mail to verify my account has never come, even after trying to resend several times (yes checked spam :) ) and all support forums are set to private. I'm using XF 2.2 with PHP 8.3. Screenshot 2024-08-21 at 11.18.10 AM.webpScreenshot 2024-08-21 at 11.24.04 AM.webp

Abandoned add on, if you purchased with PayPal, you might be able to get your money back, but you won't receive any updates or support. The developer is gone.

The add-on is actually marked as unmaintained os I don't know if a Paypal refund would happen or not.
Might have been automated and eventually will be deleted:
But this resource doesn't have a price tag even tho it has paid versions available so might stay up.

Doesn't matter if it's marked as unmaintained or not, if you ask for a refund in their resolution center (don't recall the proper name) - they will likely refund.

If you file a dispute, AddonFlare will need to respond or else it will usually settle as a refund in your favor.
They do often settle in favour of the buyer, however there needs to be a reasons such as not delivered or item received but not as advertised.
