There's only a general setting "Minimum time between discussions" that controls how long a user has to wait before starting any new thread.
I propose having a different setting specifically for profile posts.
Because having both tied up when they serve different purposes (discussion threads vs status updates) is not enough.
Maybe you want to encourage new discussion threads but discourage profile post spam and you can't do that without either setting a high value for all discussions or completely disabling profile posts, both options having a negative effect.
