Wowsers thanks for showing this to me....My mind is now melting and going into five different directions as to how cool this is and...........all the work ahead of me.
 
Yes, Thanks....Wow that was easy. Once I check marked the Article box then I was able to create a layout for the article format under layouts. Now I need to get busy and utilize the ID box and customize things further...Nice :^)
 
Problem with 1.5.1

I uninstalled the 1.4.4 module and removed the JS and Library files. I uploaded the new files for 1.5.1 and installed the module. I set up the portal via the admin panel. Made sure all templates for Porta were reverted. The homepage loads in the index and moves the forums to /forum just fine but doesn't display any content on the homepage. Anyone know why?

The recent news block is set up as well to display the forums i'd like.

Edit:

If I set the Globalized custom layout to "Index (index > portal)" it will show the news on top of my forums. The homepage continues to just show the header and footer but no content or sidebar.

That's a sexy guide. I did see something about that. I checked my tables and at the time didn't see anything but now I'm seeing EWRporta_promotes. Don't think that would cause too much trouble but I'll delete it and try again.

Edit: All tables removed, fresh install. I went to -portal and just added recent news to mid left. Didn't touch anything else. Nothing displays on the homepage.

Not sure if this would matter but my site is installed at site.com. Not site.com/forum or anything related.
 
Is your site the same as in your signature. Because the forums on that site seem to be installed in /support.

Check the criteria for the "Recent News" module since there aren't many recently active threads on your forums. You could try adding some more modules / blocks too. Recheck the permissions for your portal.
 
I found a small bug/problem I have the "Random Attachment" sidebar going and I recently responded to a members question with an attached photo. Now the attached photo is appearing in the sidebar. despite it being a private personal conversation. There is also a weird thing where if I click on it it takes me to an old posting that has nothing to do with anyone or thing related to the photo...Weirdness. Anyone else having this issue is there a fix???

Not the same forum. Added every available module to be displayed and it doesn't work. I've installed this just fine on other XenForos but as fresh installs. I can get the sidebar to sync with the main forum page but it also won't display on the homepage. All the criterias for everything are good, untouched infact. What permissions are you referring to? Only ones I saw were under usergroups for administering and for each block themselves. All seems well.

Make sure your layout looks a bit like this as in top right (not sidebar) is the Recent slider and underneath is the Recent news. Also This might be it too make sure you have either checked the box for "Set as Index Controller" or you are clicking on the second home tab

I have tried with both "Set as Index Controller" and without. Currently /portal displays just the header and footer. Seeing as this shows I'm sure I'm viewing the right page. This isn't the problem: XenPorta © Jason Axelrod from 8WayRun.Com

Hello,
I would like to change the default thread layout to a more Article like layout where the first post is the article, and the rest is "comments".

How could I do that?

Can anyone explain me about Article view ?
1. I want article view for only one section, say News & Announcement. So I checked Article (article > portal). And created a new layout with ID of News & Announcement section. Is that correct ? So when I promote threads from other sections, I don't want them to appear as article.
2. Secondly when I click on Articles slider is appearing on bottom of the page. Pretty weird. Can anyone tell me how to fix this ?

Question: is it possible to link to the article view in a similar way to the ?format=default non-article link? Eg while the default format is the non-article view? If so, how? :P
 
Anyone else having a problem with custom blocks showing up?

I created a custom block with options that save fine to the database, the templates are in the template system, but when I move the block into a layout it doesn't include the CSS file or the base template HTML.

Anyone else run into this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

All the default blocks work fine, I just cannot seem to get my custom block to display.
