Hello my name is Chris and I'm a xflicensehaulic. Thinking of adding a 6th lol. There's a discount if you already have licenses. (I have 5
If you just give us $44 billion you can have as many as you like for free. How many licences do we need to get it down to $10 a pop?
What???? The starter cloud is $648 paid annually... and that is just starter, let alone a decent sized forum. Not a good look. It's obvious the team is trying to get all the sheeple to line up for the cloud hosting cool aid.
Same reason this argument is always a false equivalence: there is value being paid for in terms of management. How is $195 + your hosting not cheap compared to the cloud services you are claiming they're pushing anyone towards
Please don’t take lessons from Invision, they’re a little too good at that.We are, of course, going to slowly keep pushing up the cost of self-hosted license so you have no choice but to surrender tens of thousands of dollars per year on renewals.
At the current rate of price increase we should get there sometime before 2077.
IF: all addons can be downloaded via Admin Panel, updating addon as well, this option is coming to XF 2.4,
This could eliminate thieves selling them on their websites, giving addons for free.
Who has not active license extension, can not update addons.
Want to keep your forum updated? Keep your license extension active!
License expired? turn off addons update option.
for now to buy addons go to developer website, buy addon & get activation code, go back to XF addon to activate that code to install addon.
not need to price up & worry about the rest!
Give me the proof.Nope. Invisions is a war crime, the worst perpetrator. Xenforo still slipped up.
The proof is that Invision Classic - the self-hosted suite - is $499 to purchase with a $199 renewal. Apparently the concept of a company charging what they think a product is worth, reflective of their time and costs to develop and maintain it, is now "a war crime".Give me the proof.
Refer to this comment https://xenforo.com/community/goto/post?id=1720172, I conclude XenForo is more expensive in the end.The proof is that Invision Classic - the self-hosted suite - is $499 to purchase with a $199 renewal. Mostly depends on what functionality you'd actually use in XF and what paid addons you'll use to implement the things you don't have in the box.Refer to this comment https://xenforo.com/community/goto/post?id=1720172, I conclude XenForo is more expensive in the end.
I hate this thing....
Also worth noting that XF doesn't take away the licence if you let it lapse long enough, while Invision can if you don't renew for 2 years.
...
Actually I did one time. I ended up going for a McDonalds afterwards because while it was very fancy and very tasty, there wasn't a lot of it.Who spends 2 hundreds for one time visit to restaurant!
not really.
when i look at it from a buyer i see a forum for $195 from xenforo.
when i look at it as a buyer i see a forum a blog groups and what looks like a calendar for $179.
for somebody that does not keep up with the gossip and only pays attention to cost it appears a better offering.
not every one has spent years in this pursuit.
people tend to look at the cost and go with what is cheaper even if later they have to change.
