www.site.com/install/ - Start of Upgrade Process
www.site.com - Error

Mysqli prepare error: Table 'xxx.xf_thread_prefix' doesn't exist

You need to navigate directly to the install path.

It's a tricky issue to resolve as the table doesn't exist until after the upgrade.

This is currently not a bug - you should always be navigating to the install directly. There's no guarantee that other pages will work.

/install is the correct path.

When I navigated to there I get:

An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later.

I just tried the other link above, but no luck

I would put your backup in place and see if you can try again after they fix a few of the random bugs people are finding. I was going to go for it, but now I am definitely doing a local build real quick to see how it goes.
