[XTR] Community Stories 1.0.9

We've been working to make your community's story-sharing experience smoother and more performant! In our 1.0.9 release, we specifically focused on the installation performance for "Big Boards" with a high number of members. You will no longer experience any page freezes or timeouts during installations or upgrades. Furthermore, to ensure full compatibility with the XenForo 2.3.x core architecture, we have heavily migrated our data management infrastructure to XenForo standards (Entity & Job systems). Small but effective accessibility fixes are also included in this release.

Changelog:

• Optimized: The system that processes following_count data during installation and updates has been migrated from raw SQL to XenForo's background Job architecture (UserFollowingCountRebuild). This prevents table lock issues on large databases.
• Optimized: Counter updates within Listener.php have been transitioned to the Entity infrastructure (fastUpdate) in accordance with the XenForo Core architecture.
• Fixed: File (media) deletion operations within Story.php have been moved to the _postDelete step (XenForo standard) to prevent data loss and transaction (rollback) issues. The service call naming has been corrected.
• Fixed: A potential fatal error risk (incorrect eem() call) when fetching the comment count in story comments has been resolved by using the standard finder() method.
• Fixed: A PageSpeed Insights / Accessibility warning caused by a missing aria-label on the "Add Story" SVG icon in the frontend has been resolved.

This is a critical maintenance update released to ensure our add-on operates flawlessly with the recently rolled-out XenForo 2.3.12 version.

In XenForo 2.3.12, the core developers introduced highly strict rule changes to the underlying "Class Extension (Class Proxy)" mechanism (specifically concerning stripped alias merging). These changes broke backward compatibility, causing features that worked perfectly in previous versions to suddenly trigger crashes (Fatal Errors) or silent failures upon upgrading.

With this update, all class extensions, FQCN mappings, and Controller structures within our add-on have been thoroughly refactored and aligned to be 100% compliant with the new XenForo 2.3.12 standards. We highly recommend that all users install this update to prevent any site interruptions, especially if you are running or planning to upgrade to XenForo 2.3.12.

• Compatibility: Achieved full compatibility with the new strict "Class Proxy (XFCP)" and autoloader architecture introduced in XenForo 2.3.12.
• Fixed: Resolved the Class "XFCP_..." not found (Fatal Error) which caused crashes on specific public and Admin CP pages by fully adhering to XF2 controller naming standards.
• Updated: Revised class extension hooks (from_class / to_class mappings) to correctly reflect XenForo 2.3.12 suffix requirements, restoring functionality to silently failing features.

• Blocked stories from being displayed if the user is in the viewer's "Ignore" list.
• Story listing queries have been fully integrated with XenForo's native "Ignore" system.

This update brings an important improvement for community management and user experience.

Improvements:

• User Ignore Support: Stories from users who are on your "Ignore" list will now be automatically hidden from the story bar. This feature allows users in large communities to filter out unwanted content and works seamlessly with XenForo's native ignoring system.

• Fixed video playback issues (grey screen/loading failure) on iOS devices completely.
• Added HTTP Byte-Range Request (206 Partial Content) support - critical for iOS Safari.
• Fixed "Headers already sent" server error.
• MIME type detection now uses XenForo native structure (inlineVideoTypes/inlineImageTypes).
• All XenForo supported video formats (mp4, mov, mpeg, mpg, webm, ogv, m4v) now work seamlessly.

This update completely resolves video playback issues on iOS devices and provides comprehensive support for all video formats.

Fixed Issues:

• iOS Video Playback: Resolved the protocol issue that prevented videos from playing on Apple devices (iPhone/iPad) and Safari browser. iOS requires servers to support "Byte-Range Requests" for video streaming. This support is now fully implemented.
• Server Error: Fixed "Headers already sent" error.
• Video Format Support: Previously only MP4 and WebM formats were supported. Now MOV, MPEG, MPG, OGV, and M4V formats work seamlessly as well.

Technical Improvements:

• MIME type detection now uses XenForo's native structure (inlineVideoTypes/inlineImageTypes). This ensures automatic support for new formats when XenForo is updated.

Improvements:
A protocol issue was identified that prevented videos from playing on iOS devices (iPhone/iPad) and Safari browsers. Apple devices require the server to support "Byte-Range Requests" to stream video content properly. If the server does not respond correctly to these requests, the video fails to load or remains stuck on a grey screen.

With this release, full "Streaming" support has been implemented. Videos are now served in chunks (byte-ranges) and in "inline" mode as required by modern mobile browsers. This ensures seamless video playback across all iOS versions and browsers.

Fixed Issues:

Profile Picture Mix-up
Resolved the issue where profile pictures would get mixed up when switching between different users' stories in the story viewer. Now each story correctly displays the right user's information.

Mobile Usage Improvements
You can now swipe story avatars left and right with your finger on mobile devices! Smooth touch-scroll support has been added for both iOS and Android devices.

New Features:

Story View Page
On the story detail page, the visit button can now be toggled visible/hidden by clicking on the image, video, or link indicator.

Style Management
Visit button and other visual elements can now be easily customized through style properties.

Performance Improvements:
Avatar loading mechanism has been optimized for smoother user experience on mobile devices.

• [New] Added a modern, Glassmorphism-styled "Visit Link" button that appears over the image when stories with URLs are paused (or clicked).
• [New] Added a persistent link indicator icon to the bottom-left corner of stories containing URLs to visually signal available links.
• [Improvement] Removed the double-click requirement for opening links on image stories. Pausing the story with a single click now reveals the visit button for a smoother experience.

An exciting User Experience update for [XTR] Community Stories!

We listened to your feedback and completely redesigned how users interact with links in stories. Gone is the confusing double-click requirement to visit a link. Now, simply tapping or clicking to pause a story reveals a sleek, modern call-to-action button. We've also added visual cues so your users instantly know which stories contain links.

• Fixed: Resolved an issue causing duplicate comments to appear after posting in story view and modal windows (Missing AJAX parameter added).
• Fixed: Corrected a logic error in the "View previous replies" feature that caused existing comments to be reloaded instead of older ones.
• Fixed: Addressed an issue where all nested replies were fully listed in the modal window; the standard limit (last 3 comments) is now correctly applied.
• New Feature: Added "Permalink" icons to comments in the modal window, allowing direct navigation to the specific comment and story view.

This update focuses on improving the stability of the Community Stories comment system. Critical issues regarding duplicate comments and loading previous replies have been resolved. Additionally, the comment display in the Modal (LightBox) view has been aligned with the main page structure, and direct access to comments (Permalinks) has been implemented for better usability.

Added YouTube Shorts and YouTube Music support

Users can now add YouTube Shorts and YouTube Music videos to their stories. The addon now supports the following YouTube URL formats:

• Standard YouTube videos (youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID)
• YouTube Shorts (youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID)
• YouTube Music videos (music.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID)
• YouTube Music Samples (music.youtube.com/samples/VIDEO_ID)
• Short URLs (youtu.be/VIDEO_ID)
• All share URLs with tracking parameters (e.g., ?si=SHARE_ID) are now properly recognized and processed.

Technical improvements:

• Updated YouTube URL regex pattern in story controller to support shorts/ and samples/ paths
• Added music.youtube.com subdomain support
• Updated widget story processing for new URL formats
• Enhanced JavaScript video player initialization to handle all YouTube URL variations
• Improved URL validation and video ID extraction across all story display contexts
• This update ensures that users can share YouTube content from mobile devices using the native share button without encountering "invalid URL" errors.

YouTube Shorts & YouTube Music Support

This release adds comprehensive support for YouTube Shorts and YouTube Music URLs, allowing users to share videos from these platforms directly in their stories.

• Full support for YouTube Shorts URLs (youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID)
• Full support for YouTube Music URLs (music.youtube.com/samples/VIDEO_ID and music.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID)
• Improved mobile sharing compatibility - users can now copy share URLs directly from YouTube mobile app
• Enhanced URL parsing to handle all YouTube subdomain variations

All existing YouTube video links continue to work as before. This is a backward-compatible enhancement.
