XenStreak: daily flames that bring your members back tomorrow 2.1.0

No permission to download
2.1.0. The Streaks link can move into the account menu, so the main navigation keeps room for your own sections.

  • New option "Streaks link position": show the leaderboard link in the account menu (the dropdown that opens from the member's name), in the navigation bar, or both. New installs use the account menu.
  • Forums that upgrade keep their navigation tab exactly where it was, until you pick another position in the options.
This update removes the "XenForo add-ons by ©XenSupport" line that XenStreak added to your forum footer, separator included. Nothing to configure: install the archive over the previous version from Admin CP > Add-ons and the line is gone once the upgrade has run.

The resource page now says so too: Visible branding: No.
XenStreak 2.0.2 makes the upgrade from 1.3 or 1.4 with "Install/upgrade from archive" quiet and safe. It no longer stops on an error_invalid_method message on servers that cache PHP files (OPcache), and no "Call to undefined method" lines land in the error log while the new files are put in place.

If an upgrade to 2.0.0 stopped on that error, your streaks are safe and the files are already in place: wait two minutes, then click Upgrade next to XenStreak in the add-on list, or install the 2.0.2 archive. Error log lines left by an earlier upgrade can be cleared, they did not change any data.
XenStreak 2.0.0 rebuilds the add-on on XenForo itself. Every 1.4 feature is still there, your streaks, records, freezes, embers, tiers and seasons move over on their own, and it is still free.

The day counts on the first page
  • The visit is now counted before the page is built. In 1.4 it was counted after the page had been saved, so most celebrations never appeared and the first page of the day still showed yesterday's number.
  • Milestones, new tiers, records, saved streaks, embers and revivals appear as a native XenForo toast on whatever page the member opens. A new option picks every day, important moments only (the default) or never.
  • A member already counted today costs no query on later pages, and two pages opened at the same moment count the day once.

A leaderboard worth checking
  • Current, All-time and Hall of Flames tabs with native pagination, your own rank pinned at the top, and your rival: the member just ahead of you, or a note that you lead the board.
  • A Streak tab on every member profile, a Streak line under Joined in the profile header and the member tooltip, and a new My flame widget next to Top flames and The bonfire.
  • Current streaks and Longest streaks in Notable members, native alerts with their own section in alert preferences, statistics in the Admin CP, and a streak line in the activity summary email.

Nothing lost overnight
  • The nightly task handles every streak that goes out, not only the first 200, keeps the embers for the phoenix revival and writes the end of the flame to the journal.
  • The "streak at risk" email uses a native template with XenForo's unsubscribe link and no longer reaches members who switched the alert off.
  • Deleted and merged members are handled, permissions you set to No stay No after an upgrade, and calendar and heatmap dates follow the visitor's language.

For admins
  • An overview: members tracked, flames alight, the record, freezes banked, flames by tier, the longest flames alight and recent events, with rebuild and reset tools.
  • A flame sheet for every member: give freezes (with an alert), edit, revive or reset a streak, each change written to the member's journal.
  • Tiers and seasons edited with a live preview and the native color picker. Every page is built from XenForo's components and follows light, dark and custom styles; the stylesheet went from 44 KB to 9 KB.

Upgrading: install the archive over 1.3 or 1.4 from the Admin CP, after a backup. "View other members' streaks" now also covers the leaderboard rows and the Top flames widget, and banned members are no longer counted. Requires XenForo 2.3.0 and PHP 8.0 or later.

🔥 Never lose a streak by accident again

Version 1.3.0 adds a streak-at-risk reminder: when a member's streak is about to end, they get a friendly nudge to come back and keep it. It is the loss-aversion trigger that turns streaks into real daily engagement.

What's new

  • At-risk reminder: members are reminded on the last day they can still save their streak, before it resets.
  • Sent in their evening: an hourly cron delivers it around a configurable hour in each member's own timezone, so it arrives while there is still time to visit.
  • Alert and/or email: pick on-site alerts, email, or both. The email is what brings back members who are not currently online.
  • Members stay in control: anyone can silence it from their alert preferences.
  • No spam: at most one reminder per at-risk day, plus a minimum streak length so nobody is pestered over a one-day streak.

Turning it on

The reminder ships disabled. Enable it in Admin CP > Options > XenStreak, choose your channels and send hour, and make sure cron is running.

Upgrading

Upload the new files and run the upgrade from Admin CP > Add-ons. The new column is added automatically, with nothing to configure and no existing data affected.

XenStreak 1.2.2

A nice batch of new features in this release to make streaks feel more alive.

Activity heatmap (GitHub-style)

Every member now has an activity grid (the last 53 weeks) that fills in as they log in, in an orange/red gradient. It shows on their streak page and on the leaderboard — visual, and it makes people want to keep the flame going.

Streak freezes

No more losing everything over a single missed day: members earn a freeze each time they hit a milestone, and a freeze automatically protects the streak when a day is skipped. Limits are configurable in the ACP.

Livelier flame

The flame badge now has a softly pulsing, flickering aura (and it respects the browser's "reduce motion" setting).

Dedicated admin tab

XenStreak now has its own top-level tab in the Admin CP instead of being tucked under another menu — easier to find.

More discreet profile badge

On profiles, the badge is now a small flame pill — hover it to see the detail (current streak + tier reached). It also renders correctly on older Safari versions now.

XenStreak 1.1.0

Make the flame truly yours: design your own streak tiers, reward your most loyal members with trophies, and showcase your top streakers anywhere with a brand-new widget — plus a stability fix.

New features

  • Fully configurable flame tiers. You're no longer limited to the 5 built-in tiers. Create as many as you want and set each tier's name, day threshold, colour, FontAwesome icon and an optional animated glow — from a redesigned ACP page with a live preview.
  • New trophy criterion: "Has reached a streak of at least N days". Reward members the moment they hit a streak milestone. Because it plugs into XenForo's user-criteria system, it also works for user group promotions and notices, not just trophies.
  • "Top streaks" widget. A new sidebar widget showing your live streak leaderboard with each member's flame. Drop it on the Members page, the forum list, or any widget position — the number of rows is configurable.

Improvements

  • Redesigned flame-tier management (clean table overview + live flame preview when adding/editing a tier).
  • The XenStreak admin section now lives under the XenSupport tab in the Admin control panel.

Fixes

  • Fixed a rare error that could appear in the server error log when the same member triggered two requests at once (e.g. overlapping "keep-alive" pings from multiple tabs). Streak rows are now claimed atomically, so no duplicate-key error is logged.

Upgrading

  • Upgrade is automatic. Your flames are preserved — the original 5 tiers (orange → red → blue → purple → gold) are recreated by default, so nothing changes visually until you choose to customise them.
  • Requires XenForo 2.3+.

XenStreak 1.0.7 - Streaks that no longer reset out of nowhere
Free update. Built straight from community feedback.

The headline: several of you reported streaks resetting "for no reason." After a deep dive, the day-counting math turned out to be correct in every timezone. The real culprit was two design flaws working together, and both are now fixed.

What was actually happening

  • The flame lied, then reset. The badge stayed lit for ~2 days (measured in the server timezone), but a streak reset the moment a single day was missed (measured in the member timezone). So the flame kept glowing on a streak that was already broken, then dropped to 1 on the next visit. From the member's side: "it was alive, then it reset for no reason."
  • No forgiveness. Missing one single day wiped the entire streak.

What's fixed

  • One source of truth. The displayed flame, the leaderboard, and the reset rule now all use the member's own timezone and the exact same threshold. The flame can no longer show a streak that is already lost.
  • New "Grace days" option (streak freeze). Configure how many missed days a member can have before the streak resets. Default is 1, so a member who misses one busy day keeps their streak instead of losing everything. Set it to 0 for the old strict behavior (must visit every single day).
  • Timezone consistency. All "what day is it" checks now resolve through the member's profile timezone (falling back to the board timezone, then UTC), so the flame is accurate for everyone regardless of where they live.

Heads up on upgrade

  • Default behavior is now slightly more forgiving: one missed day no longer breaks a streak (Grace days = 1).
  • Prefer the old strict rule? Set ACP > Options > XenStreak > Grace days to 0.
  • No schema changes, no data migration. Existing streaks are untouched.

Under the hood

  • Shared timezone + day-difference helpers, so the badge and the tracker can never drift apart again.
  • Verified against a 32-case matrix (7 timezones, DST spring and fall transitions, half-hour offset zones, day-boundary visits) plus a dedicated grace-period test suite.

Thanks to everyone who reported this. Keep the feedback coming.

XenStreak 1.0.6 - bug fixes

🧼 Profile badge cleaned up
The streak badge on member profiles was showing the day count twice on desktop ("9 9 days" instead of just "9 days") because of a redundant element. It now reads [flame] 9 days cleanly on both desktop and mobile.

🧹 Footer credit dedup
Removed the older footer credit injection that was running alongside the new consolidated one. If you had several XenSupport add-ons installed, your footer was showing two "XenForo add-ons by ©XenSupport" lines. Now you'll see exactly one, regardless of how many XenSupport add-ons you have.

Just drop the new files in and run the upgrade from the Admin CP.
