Allows searching posts using exact text criteria. This add-on is designed for use by admins and moderators only.

  • Exact text searching.
  • Optional Search field for excluding text.
  • All phrases start with messagesearch_ for your convenience.
Questions and Answers:

Q: Will search text be found in private forums?
A: Yes.

Q: Will search text be found in soft deleted posts and threads?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I enter any search text including quotes and slashes?
A: Yes.

  1. Download and unzip it.
  2. Upload the Andy folder to your server. The correct location will be library/Andy.
  3. From your Admin Control Panel, go to the "Install Add-on" page.
  4. Upload the addon-MessageSearch_v1.0.xml file.
  5. Click the Install Add-on button.
How to use:
  1. Set the User Group Permissions. Normally only the Administrative and Moderator groups should be allowed to use this add-on.
  2. Go to the Options page to enter your search criteria.
  3. Add "messagesearch" to your forum URL.

This came very handly recently when I had to clean up the forum content with specific content to comply with Google AdSense ToS. Manual search was not working out well.
