Instead of replacing ame tags with url tags I should just have removed ame tags completely. That leaves everything just as links and you need to resave a post for xf to process the post url into an embed. Andy has a mod that automates...
I did a test upgrade earlier today and I couldn't believe how well it went. All through the browser, the upgrade did 3.5 million posts in an hour.
I'm one of the last VB 3.8 holdouts. I remember many of the names on here from arguing on the various old VB forums.

I just used the web interface as it was just a test on my desktop. if i could get under 8 hours downtime time with cli and multi-process that'd do me. I could just shut down one night with minimal impact.
I'll test cli and multi-process next on the actual server.

I've done a test and it worked very well but the process takes hours (8-9)
It is possible for me to do this:
1. back up vb and use that back up to start import
2. allow people to continue to post on the original vb forum
3. close vb forum then use that db and just import the posts (and posts...
does this have member to member cash transfers? i.e. can i just send 1000 to another member easily?
