I've been avoiding upgrading my forum for 15 years, apparently.

I did a test upgrade earlier today and I couldn't believe how well it went. All through the browser, the upgrade did 3.5 million posts in an hour.

I'm one of the last VB 3.8 holdouts. I remember many of the names on here from arguing on the various old VB forums.

Anyway.

Good stuff mate.

Have a bit of fun with some of the newer features.

You'll find that you won't need extra tags or anything else for your basic links. Especially if you wanted a youtube video to be displayed.

I love vb3.8. It's like a classic car that could explode at any time but is great fun driving.

I'm never going to be able to mod xf as I refuse to understand oop. It's too late for me, I'm procedural til I die.

Have to say the paid subscriptions could do with some love in xf. I'm going to have to go straight to the db to manage things. I refuse to extend classes or whatever is supposed to happen.

oh boy. You're setting your self up for upgrade hell.

You don't really need to get into the weeds of OOP to extend a class. Half the time, you can get away with a callback and do whatever you need to process however you want to if you really don't want to leverage all the cool stuff that does all the hard work for you already in xf.

OOP is like a classic car.
you can put a 302 or a 351W in it. but you still need to bolt it up to the chassis and the drive shaft :)
