Ok I think I might have found the reason for that issue.
Open a ticket in the support area of our forum and i'll provide you a temporary fix until next release.

I'm pretty sure having MOTM installed is messing with my trophy system for other unrelated trophies such as Showcase. When I create a new trophy award for MOTM or Showcase etc everyone gets the trophy regardless of qualifying for it. If I disable MOTM the trophy system works as expected.

I am also experiencing this, just started hooking everything up now and I created a new trophy that should be rewarded if the user wins 1 contest, however as soon as I created it, I was rewarded the trophy
 
Oh Ok you meant a sidebar block showing that user can start posting medias ? (and perhaps another one after that showing that user should vote ?) ?

I might as well consider adding alerts.

Yes exactly :) I think that would make it easier for users to see the contest is happening
 
How about when a photo is added to the album a post gets automatically created in the starter thread with a link to the latest photo entry... Is this possible as a way to further/continually promote the competition?
 
Suggestions:

1. Add the option to start a new thread or maybe add a notice when the voting starts on current competition.
2. I would like an option to add an image to the thread start message for the competitions. I would love to have it a multiple choice so I can have maybe have 12 different images, one new per month :D
 
Any chance we can set this to run for one week or two weeks? I'd like to do picture of the week contests.

Can we also give an award for most views and comments? So we would have first place winning on votes, second place winning on views, third place winning on comments?

just installed it and realized that it requires users to place the media in an album.

we don't use albums because we're a collection of funny random pics/vids, so my users only select a category which is pictures or videos.

I wanted to do different contests each time, such as "Funniest meme" or "weirdest pic" or "creepiest video" - so not sure what the best way to do that is.

what's your suggestion?

I guess this is feasible yes. Noting it, should be working on updates soon.

1 is already implemented, but perhaps you wanted rather a notice ?
I think it will be easier to do clean notices popup with the new system in 1.5.

2 is something that could be envisioned, images would be linked not uploaded right ?

That's a huge change to the current core SW. I have thought at it but can't promise it'll be in the next release.

That might be feasible. Though the award relies on the trophy system so a bit unrelated. I will see.

It must relies on albums, there is no other way, but perhaps for the contests that wouldn't be such an issue for you to use albums ?

Anyhow, regarding the topics, I am planning on either allowing the creation of contests or the possibility to input the month MOTM topic.
So that might answer your needs ?
