I'm looking into disabling BB-Code cache. This table is 550MB in my SQL, which makes little sense to keep it. However, I'm not sure how this would effect performance/page load. Is it critical? Does it have any real benefit in the "real world" (user experience)?

    Thanks.

If you have large forum, then I suggest, don't enable it. After disable, you can truncate that table.

I can "absorb" this, the question is how much performance this bob code caching really gives.

It saves CPU at run time in exchange for increased db size. This is usually a good tradeoff. The benefit is really only seen on very large / busy forums though.

Would it have any effect on page load?

    Yes. It speeds up execution.
