XF 2.3 ?

Shocked how much trash is in this thread... and still no constructive talk about what is happening with XenForo or what happened with "upcoming weeks" release.
I'm not surprised by the amount of trash in this thread. That'll always be the case in discussions like this.

I am, however, pretty surprised by the fact that we haven't had at least some kind of update, or explanation, about what's taking so long. What's the reason for us having a year long wait since when we were originally expecting things to start happening? Given the amount of increasing scrutiny, in this thread alone, I find it odd that someone doesn't at least reply to settle folks down a bit. The last update from Kier, since the "upcoming weeks" comment was this one, which is coming up on 10 months old now:

XenForo 2.3 has been bubbling away for quite some time now and we are coming close to being able to show you the fruits of our labours. I'm confident you will all find something valuable in the new version when all is revealed.

That said, we do know that as recent as several months ago, development was still ongoing and that a major 2.3 feature was awaiting approval, as stated by Chris here:

a major XF 2.3 feature is awaiting my review (one of the major popular ones from the first page of the Top suggestions list) and much more already in the bag.

So, while I do find it strange that they don't at least respond to some of this, and even though the development pace is far slower than anyone (devs included, I'm sure) would have imagined, I don't think it's because progress has simply stopped or because this is the end for XF. It could be that there simply isn't anything to update us on other than...

We’re still working.

I just find the "We're still working." thing to be extremely weird considering that a year ago they said the HYS threads should start in the coming weeks. And a year before that they were also suggesting that 2.3 would be revealed soon.

What happened? And why is there no communication about what happened?

To add onto that, even if "we're still working", why is there no new previews or teasers of what they have been working on for the past 10+ months? This seems abnormal in any Software development environment.

Well... it's pretty normal in game development. See Dead Island 2 and VtM Bloodlines 2. Not that that's at all a good thing.

Or, even they have realised that forums as slowly dying and they are focused on something else.

It's just big disappointed that we have been misleaded by devepers themselves...

Yes, this is exactly my main concern too. It's pretty obvious that "something" went wrong at, or around, this time last year.

However, I am put a bit at ease knowing that within the last several months, development was still ongoing, albeit at a much slower pace than any of us would like.

Sure, while unlikely IMO, maybe they have decided to completely change direction. Even if that is the case, though, why not just let the customers know that's what's happening?

Well, they could want to make as much money as possible on new sale and renewals...

I'm still, perhaps naively, expecting us to get some kind of announcement "soon." However, if October rolls around and we're moving in to the year's last quarter, then my concern level will go up a notch. We were told all throughout 2022 that the one and only thing we could count on was 2.3 coming sometime in 2022, so if it starts to look like it might not happen any time in 2023, either...

Sorry, I just don't see that. Not saying you can't be right. I just wouldn't expect that to be the case, and I certainly hope you're wrong. For those of us who continue to renew at least one of our licenses, with the expectation that there are more updates to come for our forums, I'd hate to think they'd postpone telling us they're switching direction just to keep getting our money.

Maybe they lost their motivation to work, have real life commitments and are accepting that XF is slowly dying out?
In any way, I’ll probably stop renewing until a major update comes out.

I don't think we will see anything during the summer, as usually people are going holidays during this time of year. Or they tend to spend more time with their families.

I believe we don't see anything from the staff as they have nothing to provide with, and they are trying to avoid the same promise they made last year.

I really hope is not the case. However, I found very disrespectful from their side to ignore the customer's complains, or concerns.

I don't want to spam this thread, but is very clear, that here XF are not respecting their customers, no news, no communication, no road maps.

Is like we are walking blind in a tunner with hope to get a bit of light.

Even those members that last year said to me "be patience" are now frustrating.

I have purchased many othe digital premium products and I haven't seen same issue with communication from developers as I see here.

I'm not frustrated that there's no XF2.3 yet, I'm frustrated that we have been promised couple of times that there will be new release last year which never happened, misleading their customers.

It doesn’t, but nothing surprises me anymore. It’s like they deliberately avoid this thread even with the toxicity going on.
Well if they are still consciously taking new license agreements/payments... all while deep down know they are not advancing the software and accepting that XF is slowly dying out... that is just opening them up for a jacked situation.

Especially due to radio silence from official Company announcements and communication. Could also be counted as rather deceiving at that point for those that look from the legal pov.

Yeah perhaps, but proving that will be nearly impossible.

My biggest concern is the communication. This is something I have been complaining about a long time ago, and then the thread got locked, and they even threatened the permissions of "some" users from replying to threads at all. (See this comment: https://xenforo.com/community/threa...ticipation-of-the-xf-team.209034/post-1592128).

I really recommend you to have a look at this thread:

However, I do believe the XF staff did a great job with XenForo itself, it is truly solid software. But I think they are not a great fit for communication and marketing. They should either hire someone for this position or... hire an external company for this.

As I'm in both the UX Design and Marketing industry, it sometimes bothers me that there is a lack of... perfection with their articles.
For example: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/push-notifications.154592/ see this GIF: https://xenforo.com/community/attachments/21push2-gif.185013/

Chris is showing quite a nice feature over here, but the "Browser stack running" and other notifications are cluttering the show-off of this nice feature. They didn't bother to just delete this at all.

But I completely agree that "upcoming weeks" turning into months is quite concerning. Something definitely happened, and we can only guess.
I just really hope that the XF Team will work on their communication, as this is an incredibly important part of being a company (mainly software).

Imagine the amount of pre-customers that have seen this thread and are like: Ehm... I might want to look for something else...

We're not asking them to spoil the whole thing, just give some information about the roadmap and where they are standing.
