XenSocial - The Social Media Style Experience [Paid] 1.0.19

No permission to buy ($20.00)
The title clicking to the legacy thread was a feature request but if you feel it's important to have it click back to the social feed, we can maybe add that in as a feature. Editing can only be done in the legacy area.
Hmm, it makes no sense for the title to click through to legacy view, it would be very confusing for anyone using Social Feeds to suddenly get a view they didn't ask for. The button is fine as it does what it says.
In your Cloudflare dashboard: Caching -> Configuration -> Purge Everything

If you're not using Cloudflare or if that doesn't work, let me know and we'll get you a new version number which will force a fresh download.
Yes I'm using Cloudfare, purging all cahche didn't solve the issue with the main thread the members have been using, but I did do the private test, same as yours and that does work. So I'm very confused why one thread works and the other one doesn't.

We agree and we're adding this to our very short-term to do list.

I'm going to send you a file in our conversation.
I think maybe the view on social feed button still needs to be using @xf- style properties:

Yes, you're right. This is also on our very short-term to do list. Basically once we get the current issue we're working on resolved.

Various improvements and enhancements

Version 1.0.14:

- Robust Comment Nesting and Highlight Replies (Improvement): Deep linking directly to a thread from the legacy forum view loads the thread's preview replies and parent maps more accurately on landing, ensuring the nested layout is fully visible and accurate immediately.

- Direct Social Feed Title Links (Improvement): Thread card titles in the social feed now deep link directly back to their highlighted view in the feed, rather than redirecting users back to the...

Please re-download version 1.0.14 as a bug fix has been implemented to fix an issue that came along in either 1.0.13 or 1.0.14 which hid thread titles when the "View on Social Feed" button was displayed.

Be sure to select the "Overwrite existing files for add-on rebuilds / upgrades" option while upgrading.

Thank you! And I apologize for not noticing this over the past day or two.

UX Enhancements and a Guest User Bug Fix

Version 1.0.16

BUG FIX:

  • GUEST reply to reply failure: When an UNREGISTERED user replied to a reply, the message was not submit. This is now fixed.
UX ENHANCEMENTS:
  • Composer Cleanup: Removed Redundant Labels
  • Quote and Reply improvements: Added a "Reply" button to the topic starter's action bar (same as existing reply buttons on replies). Clicking it opens the inline reply form with quote_post_id...

Installed and purchased today.

A few things...

I do wish I could make the feed wider as its only in the center of the page.

On my site many of my topics have hundreds of replies, so clicking Load Replies only shows 3 at a time (I know the number can be changed) but I would like to see an option available like on Facebook for "Most Recent" as getting to the end of replies 3 replies at a time is impossible. :)

Thank you for the purchase and the feedback! I'm sending you a direct message with a few improvements that I'd like to get your input on.

Relating to the "Most Recent" Facebook-like arrangement, it's on our drawing board along with other features that will offer major enhancements to how people can use your community...

Aesthetical improvements and a feature/setting update

Version 1.0.17:
  • Reply batch size: New ACP setting controls how many replies load per click of "Load Replies" (default: 10, max: 50). Previously this was tied to the preview count, which is an editable setting that defaulted to 3.
  • Feed width (desktop view): New ACP setting allows admins to set the feed's max-width using any CSS value (such as 900px, 1200px, 80%, 100%). Changes take effect immediately without cache clearing.

One issue that has been brought to my attention. If a member chooses to use social feeds as their main way to interact with the forum then it’s great they can choose to access the forum via the social feeds navigation link.

However if they get an alert for a reply or reaction and follow the alert link, then they are immediately in legacy mode.

Could there be a preference setting for social feed so that users can choose that view and always stay with that view when following alerts or other internal linking (including from forum list maybe?)

I like your suggestion and it's something I've naturally thought about myself - as I receive reply notifications from my forums 24/7.

As more users prefer the Social Feed as their primary experience, having alerts and internal links keeping them in that view would make it feel seamless.

It's not a simple toggle, however. There are some real challenges involved in making this work well - but it's on our roadmap.
