Xenique.com

As we still have no go forward with our current hosts on exactly when we might be back on the air, I have made the decision to revert back to the old site on the old hosting, as a result there will be significant loss of members and posts on where we were before this all happened at the start of Feb. The DNS may take up to 24 hours to propagate but it is better than waiting forever for the data to be recovered.

It will however give us something, apologies to those members who are now missing, or for posts etc.

Thanks for your continued patience.

What was the backup plan for Xenique.com ?
Was it "in progress" like I have for my site ?
:)
I gotta find a reliable method.

Our host did monthly backups, and David was doing more regular ones, however due to his surgery and down time, this wasn't happening for obvious reasons.

Really I should have been doing back ups too, however I am really bad at such things lol I blame myself completely.

Hopefully we will be able to recover the backup from the 31st Jan soon and revert to that, in the meantime the older one will have to do to keep the site open for now, clients must be getting concerned with good reason, so to move things along we will take a step backwards for now.

Are you considering a change of host as a result?

Geeks... yes I think so, I am becoming infinitely patient with tech issues as they happen to me quite regularly, but we have been off air too long now.

Indeed!

We are back online folks, thank you again for all the patience and understanding, our sincere apologies to anyone affected by the recent outage.

Looks like we have lost about a month worth of posts and PM's etc, so please feel free to contact me again if we were in discussion.

:D Happy to be back online I must say!

Good to see the site back Kim. (y) to all those involved in getting back online.

That must have been hell. When it's a primary business too...trying to think of words here etc. devastating springs to mind.
Sincerely guys, well done! :)

Welcome back xenique

I liked your shopping cart. Simple. Clean. Effective.

xenique.shopping.cart.webp

Ideas:
an alert if something sits in the shopping cart for longer than 48 hours ?
a notice if something sits in the shopping cart for longer than 48 hours ?
embed shop items into posts with bbcode ?
The shopping cart looked a bit drab. I wanted an icon somewhere for the non-english people and visual people.
Maybe an icon could go in the header with a (1) symbol ?
Then the shopping cart could be visible even if you went to the forums ?

This version is literally the barebones of a much more complicated add-on. Xenique is running Alpha 1, and things will get added/fleshed out later. I have a nice, long TODO list for it but for now it's being made for Xenique's and XenFluence's immediate needs.

Looks very promising. Is that something that will be available to other interested parties, too?

I'm hoping it will support more than just PayPal. Not everyone can use PayPal.

I'm open to any alternative.... Google Checkout, 2Checkout, Alert Pay...... Anything.... I'm not picky.
Google CO, 2CO, Moneybookers all require an SSL connection among other fairly stringent requirements. Not to mention their merchant fee's are higher and terms are stricter. I have accounts for all of those and meet their requirements but chose to use Paypal only. Paypal is the gateway of choice for the majority of small business owners.

Alert Pay is like Canada's version of PayPal. SSL not required.

I only suggest that there also be an alternative along side PayPal.

Google Checkout also can be configured not to use SSL (Google likes to hide settings).
