xenforo newbie here - question about media gallery

Hello, I would like to know if xenforo media gallery has the ability to automatically watermark the images that are uploaded in the media gallery? Also when using the media gallery add on on my forum, would every forum member be able to upload images using the media gallery and these images are they saved somewhere on the xenforo forum platform? I would really appreciate some response.

But there is still some trouble if you set watermark and change to another one in future.
Existing watermark is not replaced with new one.
Strange thing, but that is reality on xenforo

Still waiting for someone to answer this

That doesn't seem right, can someone from xenforo please say why this problem persists?
There's a tool which rebuilds any images which are already watermarked with the new image. You can use inline moderation to apply the watermark to any image that is not already watermarked.

That depends what you mean. They are stored in the same system location as attachments.

What I am trying to say here is that as more pictures are uploaded, do I have to increase my data storage capacity with my host or does xenforo handle all this?
All hosting is sorted by yourself (with a 3rd party web host). XenForo only provides the forum software (and the media gallery if you are getting this), they do not supply web space/data storage, domains or any stuff that web hosts provide.

if the images are hosted on another website (an image host website) and the image url is uploaded on my forum, would I still require a large storage considering the fact that the image isn't hosted on my forum, it is just embedded on the forum using the image host url.

That would lessen the storage requirements.

If your site is running secure SSL (ie https rather than http) then you need to use the image proxy built into XenForo to prevent insecure content messages from hotlinked images that come from sites that don't have secure SSL (ie they are http not https). The image proxy caches images for a period of time on your server to solve this issue and therefore space is required for this. More info in this video from 02:32 onwards:

Images shouldn't be an issue though unless you go for a very poor web host that offers a pitiful amount of web space. You can reduce the size of uploaded images via various settings in the admin control panel and you can also not allow users to upload videos to the media gallery.

Ok, here's a direct example of what I want to know, I have uploaded xenforo's logo on an image host and I have embeded the url I got from the image host here, now my question is this, is this image in any way using any of the storage resources on this forum (thumbnail, cache etc) or is it just stored directly on the image host and displayed here on the forum.

By default the image proxy is disabled ;)
Well that's fair enough ;)

As the OP asked this:

is this image in any way using any of the storage resources on this forum (thumbnail, cache etc) or is it just stored directly on the image host and displayed here on the forum.
the answer is "yes, on here it is" because this site uses the image proxy due to it being an https site. :)

I was trying to give a simple answer relevant to the default case. They can cross the image proxy bridge at a later date if it is something that needs to be enabled.
