7.2 is fine. Any MariaDB version is also fine.

actualy 1.5.8 not works fine with 7.2.2 got some errors like this inside error log

run 1.5.8 xenforo and revert PHP to 7.0.22

Apologies for the earlier info. You'll need XF 1.5.16 for PHP 7.2 support and XF 1.5.12 for PHP 7.1 support. Otherwise, you'll need PHP 7.0.
