Great news: we’ve just released the XF2.2 compatible version of News Publisher, labeled News Publisher 2.2.0! It has all the same great features, minus the XF 2.3-specific additions. And yes, once you upgrade your XenForo to 2.3, you'll be able to upgrade News Publisher 2.2.0 to 2.3.0 seamlessly.

Regarding making it the homepage, absolutely! You can set it up as the homepage by going to your Admin CP, searching for the setting "Index page route" and setting it to "news-publisher/".

Are the sizes of the added images reproduced in different different ways, or do you adjust them by width and height according to the view?

News thumbnails are handled similarly to how event images are managed in Events Manager and how resource icons are managed in XFRM.

For example, we use the following code to render a thumbnail with a specific size:
HTML: 
{{ news_thumbnail($newsItem, 's', link('news-publisher', $newsItem)) }}
 
so each image is individually sized according to where it is used.
If it is used in 3 columns, it is set in a different size, if it is used in 1 column in a single line, it is set in a different size.
is it true?

I suspect alot of people search Resources for portal. they will miss your addon.
I suspect alot of people search Resources for Blog. they will miss your addon.
I suspect some people search Resources for Home Page. they will miss your addon.
I suspect some people search Resources for CMS. they will miss your addon.

Add all the keywords to your addon name !

Relatively few people search for news. Relatively few people search for publisher.

Hello, i really like this add-on to be use as my site homepage. Could you help to clarify some of the following questions for us to consider purchasing the add-on:

1. Is the news thumbnail only available with uploading option? or Is it automatically displayed the first image of the post as well if i decided to ignore the thumbnail uploading?

2. Am i still able to use the Xenforo Based Sidebar Widgets /or XF custom widgets to display on the "News Publisher" Sidebar, instead of using only the availble add-on sidebar widgets?

3. Can i request for a custom home page slider on the top of the page after purchased the add-on? (of course with the extra cost)

Hi there! Thanks so much for your interest in the News Publisher.
  1. News Thumbnails: With our latest update (v2.3.1), the News Publisher now supports automatic thumbnail fallback options. If you don’t upload a thumbnail, it will automatically use the first image from the news content (via the [IMG] BBcode) and if those aren’t available, it will default to the image set in the style properties.
  2. Sidebar Widget Positions: Yes, you can absolutely use custom XF widgets with the News Publisher add-on. We’ve included several widget positions in v2.3.1, so you can place your widgets in various spots, including above or below the news index, in the side navigation, or in the sidebar on news story pages.
  3. Custom Home Page Slider: Yes, we can definitely consider creating a custom homepage slider for you! Just head over to XenCustomize.com and submit a detailed suggestion with examples, and we’ll be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.

Thank you very much for the quick response. Yes sure i will check it out for awhile and head over to your forum to make some suggestions.
 
I really like this look, would be great to make this as a front page (default) for our site, but a few questions.

We use most of @Bob add-ons. Would these be compatible with this, meaning would I be able to use our AMS articles as news and have those show up on your app? Or is this more like xenporta where it only takes from the featured list in the basic forums only?

If it is possible to pass things from AMS/UBS/... straight to this addon I would buy it in a heartbeat!

You can use this add-on alongside Bob’s add-ons; it operates independently with its own content type. Unfortunately, AMS articles cannot be displayed within this add-on.

This add-on is different from XenPorta. It uses its own distinct content type, so it does not rely on featured lists from basic forums.

Why not? Think outside the box ;) XFRM, XFMG, AMS, Showcase, UBS etc comes with Widget Definitions that lets admins create unique content type specific widgets, which can be displayed anywhere that there is a Widget Position and if there are no widget positions for an exact position, you can edit any template and use the XF Widget helper to display any widget anywhere. It would literally take me a few minutes to add several XFRM, XFMG, AMS, Showcase, UBS etc related Widgets to this addons Index page (or to any page within this addon). Doesn't matter HOW its done, what matters is that it is very doable and easily doable without any changes or modifications of your addon.

@Brian Jones hit me up at A51 if you need help doing this. Its a piece of cake.

🙂 Absolutely, widgets can be placed anywhere in XenForo, including News Publisher as it has various Widget positions. My focus was specifically on the news content type when he referred to AMS articles as news, just to avoid any confusion.
 
I was thinking of something like a bridge where the user would add an article to AMS or link from LD and it be created within this CMS under a specific (sub)category in News Publisher or vice versa.

I have already added some of @Bob widgets and am content with being able to do so, at least for the present. :D

Oh, how about a selection to change a post into a news story? I know it, a news story, can auto-create its own post, how about the other way around? I could use that to bridge between the two.
