My big board has been using thread ratings for decades. Thread Reviews actually. However, the current addon doesn't offer the functionality we had, so I disabled it. The current functionality is too simple and not intuitive. What we used to have is something similar to XenForo Resource Manager Reviews, but for Threads.
Example:

it would be nice to see something similar to this.
And with the schema.org contentRating aggregrateRating, etc.
It would be nice to see star ratings in Google results.

Does this addon use phrases?
I would like to make the ratings score be for the subject of a thread rather than for the thread itself.
For example, say all threads in a particular forum are about car dealers and each thread is about a particular dealer. Could I change the word ‘thread’ to ‘dealer’ (and ‘threads’ to ‘dealers’ if there is a plural usage) so that users know that they are rating the dealer rather than the thread about the dealer? So that the rating system is more intuitive and user friendly for this purpose?
This idea actually expands what this addon can be used for.

This add-on was originally designed so that ratings are always associated with posts. But I'll take a look into this.
This feature is already available here , you can customize it in the add-on settings
Of course the add-on uses phrases.
If you want each node to use its own phrases rather than being limited to just dealers, this might require a bit of work.
I’ve made an ass out of myself by assuming something incorrectly before, so I did want to check. I’m going to purchase this addon to test it, thank you.
Re having node-specific phrases for each rating purpose, it would be needed if you have nodes with different subjects that you want to rate.
In my car brand related forum, I also have model-specific forums, so being able to have a node-specific phrase where they are asked to rate each model (‘the MG4’, for example) would give the addon a new dimension. Significantly increase its value.
If I want ratings available on specific forums only, do I go to node permissions and set the ratings permissons to YES for the desired usergroups in those forums?

It appears that I'm able to rate in all my replies to a single thread. This would allow bad actors to rate a thread multiple times.
I would definitely not want to allow people to rate a thread multiple times. Is it possible to have an option to prevent this?

Permissions.
I see the permission for Thread Ratings: Max ratings in thread but I read that to mean the max number of ratings in total, not from one user. Thanks for the clarification.

you can grant users only "rate threads without replying" permission, instead of "rate thread with reply" then there will be no ratings associated with replies
Reviews are ratings with a comment explaining the rating.
The issue is that there is no functionality for reviews. Its only possible to have discussion posts with ratings on them to look like reviews. But this mixes in reviews and discussion posts, instead of having these separate.

They are not mixed with the permission setup I described above
When I asked to develop this add-on, I specifically wanted to have the comments and ratings in the same window without tabs, not to show comments on one side and reviews on the other. If the add-on had your approach, I wouldn't have bought it because it would be confusing on my forum...

The rating break down - the five bars 5 star, 4 star etc. take up way too much realestate on the page IMO and people will most likely be more interested in reading the thread than seeing how the ratings break down.
So could I suggest that you hide the rating break down by default and add an expand button which people can use to expand and collapse it? I mocked one up based on the Xenforo header menu expansion button but using your orange. Hover text being something like 'See the rating break down'.
