why users show as registered / mail not confirmed ?

why do users show as "Registered Members" when they in fact did not confirm their registration via the confirmation-link ?

Because technically they have still registered and have an entry in the database.

I'd like to see a "user awaiting email activation" group added to the core (not sure whether it can be setup) as I used a special markup to see those that didn't activate their accounts.

I haven't gone into the settings too much but is that possible to set that group? I really ought to check.

There isn't such a group and users who haven't confirmed don't show up on the Members page at all : http://xenforo.com/community/members/
