why spammers / banned users show as active members ?

Just moved 3rd forum from VB unfortunately with 11,500 spam accounts (thanks to broken reCapcha).
By spam accounts I mean 0 posts and links in profile pages.

I managed to ban some of them but they still show up in member list.
    My questions:

    1. What is the logic behind keeping spammer's accounts in active memberlist?
    2. How can I manage simple task as listing users with 0 posts and deleting them at once? (some of this 11,500+ members are not banned but they have 0 posts)
    3. How I can delete all banned accounts at once from banned user list?

I have that already but looks like XenUtiles doesn't have option to delete banned accounts at once.

it will do it automatically once you configure it.

    From the FAQ:

Why do banned users still show as normal members and appear in the member list?
This is the designed behavior; there is no outward indication that a member has been banned. Their user title stays the same and they will still appear in the members list. If required, you can manually change a banned member's user title, or create a user group with a higher display styling priority and add them to it. To prevent them from appearing in the members list you can change the user state to anything other than valid.

It's not possible to mass delete user accounts.

This is all great but why I'm forced to keep over 10K+ users (!spambots) with 0 posts and links in their profiles leading to porn and viagra sites? Where is the logic behind spam cleaning feature if I can't clean my own member list in one easy process (filter / select / delete)?

Moving those users around or hiding them, doesn't fix the issue. Deleting them do.

This seems relatively simple. Why can't an Addon be made to accomplish just this ?

Its that simple, I don't know why you can't do a mass prune in the core system.

Thanks, but its an addon!! It should be core.

Digital Doctor and FredC like this.

Indeed. It will likely be in the core one day.
But an xfrocks addon might be as good as core or better !!!
    :)
I just wanted to make sure you knew about the addon :)

Is there anyway to add Banned as a User State?

What do you mean by user state?

    Valid, Awaiting email confirmation etc.

    Ah, I see.
You would need an add-on for that.

You can however search for banned users, if that was your intention.

    state.PNG

Or you can click on Banned Users in the sidebar menu on the left.

Really want it as an option in user states. Right now I set them to Awaiting Email confirmation (from edit).

Why do you want it as an option in user states?

Just ban them, that will achieve the same result.

But don't they still show in the member list unless you change the member state also? Or does banning alone keep them out of the member list? When I ban someone, other than their posts, I pretty much want them to disappear.

I wasn't clear on what it was you wanted from the new state, now I understand.
